I'd be eating out if government wasn't gobbling up my money!I have to brown bag it so I can pay Wisconsin's taxes. My brown bags alter ego pays fewer taxes and gets to eat out.We spent 780 billion on a stimulus plan and all I got was this brown bag!Wisconsin is tax hell!

Wisconsin needs a policy like the following from Missouri:

The "Show Me" state has once again shown us how it should be done. They need more exposure on this. Let's pass it around.
In 2007, Missouri placed on the ballot a proposed constitutional amendment designating English as the Official language of Missouri . Nearly 90% voted in favor! English became the official language for ALL governmental proceeding in Missouri . It also meant no individual had the right to demand government services in a language OTHER than English.

In 2008 a measure was passed that required our Highway Patrol and other law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person arrested, and inform federal authorities if the person was found to be here illegally. It allowed Missouri law enforcement offices to receive training to enforce federal immigration laws. The bill made it clear that illegal immigrants would NOT have access to taxpayers benefits such as food stamps and health care through Missouri HealthNET.

In 2009 a measure was passed that ensured Missouri 's public institutions of higher education do NOT award financial aid to individuals who are here illegally. The law also required all post-secondary institutions of higher education to annually certify to the Missouri Dept. of Higher Education that they had NOT knowingly awarded financial aid to students who were unlawfully present in the United States .
So while Arizona has made national news for its new law, it is important to remember Missouri has been proactive in addressing this growing problem.

Missouri has sent a clear message that illegal immigrants are NOT welcome in our state and they are certainly NOT welcome to receive public benefits at the cost of Missouri taxpayers!

I pray to GOD Scott Walker wins in Wisconsin like the Dems. said in 08 its time for change, but the only change that matters is a change that WORKS!!!

May 27, 2010 18:59:37

Gotta say I'm inspired and refreshed by this guy. Proven, practical and no nonsense. How refreshing and, my, how we need this kind of leadership.Doyle and the dems have yet to find a tax they dont like or a fee that cant be raised. Give 'em more and it makes no difference. When will they figure out there is no end to it to what they can spend.....

May 25, 2010 18:43:39

I attended my second phone bank last Sunday for Scott, in Kensoha.
Erin gave me some brown bags. I love them! The guys at work love them too. What a great idea! People that I don't even know, come up to me and talk politics. I have met several conservative wisconsin republicans at work. Keep the brown bags flowing!! They work. I am converting the uninformed to walker backers.

This is my first year, that I am involved in politics. I use my hatred of Obama to motivate me to make a difference. Don't sit on the sidelines!! GEt Involved!!

May 18, 2010 13:27:29

I'm happy Scott is in Agreement with Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona. This entire country could use more leaders like Jan and Scot.

May 17, 2010 08:22:13

Maybe we be lucky and Scott will move to one of those states that want him

May 16, 2010 00:19:04

I thought I was supposed to be in my golden years, but when I look in my brown bag there's no gold left. Thanks Doyle. Go Scott we need you!

May 15, 2010 08:32:54

This Brown Bag Movement is taking off! You know you've arrived when you go viral and start getting parodies:

I'd love to see these brown bags on T-Shirts in the Walker store.

I agree. How about it Walker people? I'd buy and proudly wear one!

May 13, 2010 18:27:42

Way to go Mr. Walker! We need someone like you here in California.

May 13, 2010 11:21:41

I'm from Ohio and I wish we had more candidates like Scott Walker here in our state! Go Scott!!

May 13, 2010 08:15:58

Sign me up to start the CA chapter! A simple, to the point conservatve message is exactly what we need to bring back our party!

May 13, 2010 02:31:11

If this doesn't work out in 'Sconi, you can always come west. Minnesota needs the exact same common sense, jobs first, government last approach. Even our "Republicans" spend like drunken sailors.

May 13, 2010 00:33:46

I have known Scott for several years and I couldn't think of a better candidate for WI governor! I first met Scott in a casual fashion but was taken immediately by his sincerity and his dedication to solve the many problems in Milwaukee County and the State in general. Since then I have been a strong supporter of his efforts. Not that I can or could give donations to the campaign but just pass the word to all of my friends and contacts.

He has absolute integrity, honesty and I've never met a person more open and outspoken about the issues we face here. He has REAL solutions for the REAL problems we are facing. The man just never falters!

And he is just such a 'down to earth' guy! This is not a professional politician just looking to get some votes! This is a breath of fresh air! All future candidates (for whatever office in whatever state) should be following this example. Make the effort to go out and meet him. He would welcome the opportunity!

You could not ask for a better candidate for the upcoming election! He talks the talk but he also walks the walk!

I'd love to see these brown bags on T-Shirts in the Walker store.

I sincerely hope this movement catches on in Wisconsin and moves through the rest of the country. The government is bloated and dragging all of us down. Just today I noticed most milk products at the Ralph's grocery store in Van Nuys, CA -- many Wisconsin milk products! -- have risen $1 to $2 in the last three months. At this pace, we will not be able to afford milk for our kids! And we in California certainly won't be able to buy them from Wisconsin. Thanks to Obama and the national debt makers, inflation has just begun!!

May 12, 2010 20:45:22

For those of you not from Wisconsin who are coming here to vote, I'd like to encourage you to vote for my entry. "Wisconsin's Taxes are too high and we can't Barrett any longer." Tom Barrett, the likely Democrat candidate for Governor, was a liberal Congressman, is now the Mayor of Milwaukee, and he favors high spending and HIGH TAXES. Wisconsin's citizens and economy are already hurting from high taxes that are driving businesses out and costing us jobs. So my entry, with a pun on Barrett's name, is specific for Wisconsin. Please help us take Wisconsin back!! Thanks!!

May 12, 2010 20:33:26

I currently live in California, but just read about Scott Walker and his message. I must say it is the first time a political message has resonated with me in some time. Good luck. Hope to be voting for you in 2012.

May 12, 2010 20:18:50

WOW! Seems like the real deal! Wyoming still believes in empowerment vs entitlement and his message is an empowerment message. Let's see if the urbanites of Wisconsin can elect him along with you country conservatives, then cowboy up, tighten the belt, get rid of the entitlement mentality and government obstruction and get-er-done!

May 12, 2010 20:14:29

You know it

Can my "Right" thinking daughter start a student chapter at The University of Texas? The faculty then is almost as Commie as those folks at UW in Madison!!!

If you ever go national, sign me up to work for you in the Lone Star State

Your "Brown Bag" ideas for government are great Scott. I wish you the best and hope the great state of Wisconsin understands and supports your most novel ideas and platform. I would like to see a third party formed based upon your three platform concepts of economics first, a small yet highly effective government second, and lastly, a clear understanding of where jobs actually come from. It is to bad that I live here in Florida. Otherwise, I would enjoy seeing a man of your vision running the sunshine state. If they don't appreciate your views up there, consider this a formal and always-open invite to Florida.

Godspeed Mr. Walker.

May 12, 2010 19:31:36

Hope this guy is for real, at the rate the demonicrats are spending money we may be out of ink before anyone can stop this train wreck.

May 12, 2010 18:49:38

It is about time that someone tells it straight!! Let me know what I can do.... the time for talking about fixing this mess is over.

May 12, 2010 18:45:24

Wisconsin has been a "communist" state for too long. It's no wonder folks are leaving it in droves, especially upon retiring. Businesses leaving as well, one after one. Taxes are just too punitive, and for what? We have suffered through too much of spend-crazy Doyle and the rabid lefties that have all but destroyed this state. There hasn't been a tax our current governor hasn't loved. How about taxing me on every fish I catch or breath I take Mr Doyle? Go Scott Walker! He will win and it will be a breath of fresh air! We need you Scott to stop that Doyle choo choo train dead in its tracks.
Kudos to brown bagging it! The rest of us in the real world have to.

May 12, 2010 18:33:41

Frugality... live and love it. Happiness can NOT be bought.

I am a graduate student's wife blessed with two sweet little girls. We have hardly anything in our apt, salary far below poverty line, full time mom, yet I am happier than I have ever been in my life!

Who needs fame and fortune? I have everything right here within the walls of this apt.

May 12, 2010 18:33:13

Good Luck Scott!

May 12, 2010 17:52:49

The inability to "pay the bills" ended the power and very existence of the USSR. Lesson for the USA. It CAN happen here too. Please remind the folks of this, Scott!

May 12, 2010 17:51:42

I like Mr Walker's ideas. Simple and to the point.

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, but moved to Texas in 1972 because of a job transfer, high taxes and a ex-wife.

Never looked back as life in Texas has been very good to us. Now I would love to see the citizens of State of Wisconsin cut there socialists chains and dump the fools that have run the state into the ground. My sister lives in the great north of Wisconsin and can only shake her head in anger when she talks of the path that Wisconsin and the USA have taken.

Between the Tea Party and the Brown Bags maybe a start toward sanity in how this country and states are governed will take root.

Scott Walker looks like one of those people we can support and get the results we all long for.

Best of luck Scott, my check is in the mail

I like the brown bag message, and the frugality. I'm a Ben Franklin conservative. However, his supporters, Jeb Bush and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich give me the creeps. A Bush got us into this Obama mess.

May 12, 2010 17:08:42

Most of America thinks exactly this way! It just makes sense to talk like this. The last time Washington made sense was when the original "Brown Bag" Man sat in the Oval Office, Ronald Reagan. We miss him and we sure would like to see a protégé. Go for it, Scott!

May 12, 2010 16:59:09

Go Scott! Give um hell!

Spending your way out of debt is like eating your way out of obesity.

May 12, 2010 15:32:56

I am from Oklahoma and this is how we think here, too. When the oil bi'ness was in its depression (not recession) from 1986-2000, my young family had to live a "brown bag" existence. The average daily balance of my billfold at that time was probably $2. You simply live on what you have. Guess what? We did it and we survived and we all still love each other. America can do it, too! Keep on truckin', Mr. Walker! This Okie is behind you all the way.

May 12, 2010 15:03:01

Me likey Scott Walker!! This is change I can believe in. Go Scott!!!

May 12, 2010 14:50:33

I like the SIMPLE MESSAGE - that's exactly what we need in this country!.

Got the link at Drudge report.

May 12, 2010 13:34:17

Catchy theme.

Scott has done a good job as County Exec in holding the line in a liberal spending Milwaukee County.

Can he actually reduce spending at the state level? That is a gutsy goal. No Democrat or Republican has done it yet in this State. I don't think Scott will either.

But if he does, then I would say his chances of becoming president are in direct relation to the percent of the bloated Wisconsin State budget he eliminates.

May 12, 2010 13:27:03

Just got here from a link. I love your message...this is what makes America; honest, hard working Americans. This should be our national message for the foreseeable future. Simple, succinct but oh so powerful. Mr. Walker, thanks for the reminder. I am not from Wisconsin...but I want in on the movement...you inspired me!

May 12, 2010 13:17:51

Came from Drudge. Good luck Mr. Walker - your perspective is what makes our country great - send the BIG GOV PROGRESSIVES packin! Connecticut could use your help - we can't find the Constitution in our state.

May 12, 2010 12:40:58

This seems real cute! I just hope to God above that this isn't just another gimmick like "vote for change"!!!!

May 12, 2010 12:35:35

We (here in NY) don't want him to be governor of WI. We want him to be president of the United States. We are sick and tired of what is growing out of all of the manure down in Washington D.C.
It's time to bring common sense back into government. No more hope and change, please!

May 12, 2010 12:27:40

Got here from The Drudge Report.

We want him for Governor...of Oregon too!

Tele-commute..? (It's cheaper!)

Interesting list as to how the government wastes our money. Go Scotty Walker! Heavy support from VA

May 12, 2010 12:04:24

Wisconsin probably needs Scott Walker as Governor; but the U.S. needs him as President even more.

May 12, 2010 11:41:53

For those visiting this page, especially those from out-of-state who are voting in this contest, I hope you will consider voting for my entry. Scott Walker's likely opponent in November is Tom Barrett, currently Mayor of Milwaukee. He is a high-tax candidate, likely to continue the very high spending and taxes that Wisconsin citizens and businesses face, which is crippling our economy. So my entry is a pun on his name, that our Wisconin taxes are too high and that we cannot BARRETT (bear it) any longer. I hope you can appreciate the humor and the relevance of my pun and vote for my entry. Thank You!!!

May 12, 2010 11:34:21

Keep up the good work so we can get our country back and our government under control. Of the people by the people and for the people that are legally in this country.

May 12, 2010 11:26:31

yeah wisconsin - great state - common sense!

May 12, 2010 10:56:35

Mr. Walker: does your stance on not spending more than you have apply to our military adventures? It's easy to rag on the stimulus - which I loathe - but quite another to have the fortitude and the clear mindedness it takes to see that the only way we can afford our wars of aggression is through Treasury Bond sales.

If you are for financing ALL government activities through tax receipts than I am for you. Otherwise, you're just another neocon - a political dinosaur.
